Well it seems summer is here with Memorial Day.  There will be picnicking with family and friends.  It’s always a relaxing day but I walk away feeling, well I hate to admit it but fat. So here’s how it can be different.  Use the food combining techniques. Eat your watermelon first.  Wait 20 minutes and then eat your hamburger, hot dog or chicken.  I know you’ll have the hamburger and dogs on a bun. I will also. That’s not good food combining, but don’t add injury to insult by eating potato salad and chips at the same time. What I’m saying here is don’t stuff yourself.  The food will be there for later. So instead of having everything at once, save some to eat for later. You’ll be so glad you did.

FYI: Most people will drink cola (or pop) to quench their thirst. Not me!  I know better, so let me teach you so you can make the common sense choice for yourself. This is the thing– with or without sugar; coke’s active ingredient is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8.  It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.  What does this mean for humans?  It leaches calcium from your bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

But here are other uses for cola

  • Cleans blood off of cement.  Hope you wouldn’t need it for that!
  • You can use it in the toilet to rid yourself of that ugly calcium and rust ring instead of bleach.  In that case I’m all for the cola!
  • Coke removes rust stains on metal and corrosion from the terminals of a car battery.
  • Removes grease from clothing; that might come in handy at a pick nick.

So instead of passing a can of cola with the meal, pass out the cans of cola to your friends and family at the end of the day, as they are leaving, with the list of household uses, as a “thank you.”
